I have a Purex Brand light nighe model 425 with a Purex Brand 301 light housing.  It appears the Pentair Amerilight will work as a direct replacement.  Can anyone confirm this with me I can not find any information on this light and pretty sure it was original installed in the pool in 1976.  The niche it self appears is good enough order but the light housing is messed up and needs to be replaced.

My follow up question is the Purex 301 says only replace with a 12v 100 watt bulb.  If I replace the housing do I still need to get a 12v bulb?  I was planning on upgrading to an LED bulb so this wont be an issue just want to know what my options are.

Thank you for contacting Inyo. What is the outside diameter of the face ring on the light?

You can replace your light with another 12v. You can also replace your 12v light with a 120v if you remove the transformer. Check your local codes. Some areas require 12v lights.

The inside diameter of the niche is just a fraction of an inch under 9 3/4"

The outside diamter of the light ring in 10"

The outer diameter of the light bulb cone with the lens and ring removed is 8-5/8

Does the light bulb rating have anything to do with the niche itself or just the light bulb housing?  It says 100watts so could I get a 500 watt bulb and housing that fits the niche or does the niche also have to be rated for that wattage of bulb?

Nevermind after speaking with the company resurfacing my pool and he told me it would be $800 for him to swap out what you see in the picture above I told him I would do it after the pool was done.  He told me the Pentair Amerlite should fit now problem.  Called the pool store today went and picked up a Pentrair Amerlite 12v 100watt with 100' cord for $269 (only needed about 15 to 20 feet max but that was all they had).  2 hours later including a trip to home depot to buy a first tape since I tied the pull string to the wrong set of wires in the pool light juction box.  It is in and did a quick test to make sure it works and it looks great not just need to get my pebble finish installed on Tuesday.

So for anyone else wondering YES the Pentrair Amerilite will fit into the old obsolete Purex 425 Niche

Thank you Inyo Pools you guys are the best and in a few weeks I will buy one of the color changing LED replacments for it.

We appreciate you taking the time to come back and give us a detailed update. Let me know when you're ready to get the LED bulb and I'll send you a reward code. Thanks again.

I might as well go ahead and order it.  How do I go about getting this reward code?  I am sure you dont want to post the code in here for all to so and I kind of dont want to post my email for the same reasons.

Also since my Pentair Amerilite light housing is only a week old do I really need to replace the light gasket when I replace the bulb?

You can use the current light gasket. It will still be in good shape.
