I replaced a 500 watt incandecent watt bulb in my Hayward SP0580 light housing 2 years ago with a 65 watt LED bulb.  The bulb went out this week and when I opened the housing, a bunch of the blue potting material had seemed to have melted and run all over the inside of the housing.  I am guesing that is because LED lights get hot at their base but not at ther lens area.  I want to put another LED in, but am worried about the potting being damaged and also more damage to come.  Is it supposed to be ok to use LED's in place of Incandecant bulbs in pool lights?
