Jandy Pool Motor

Hi. New to the forum but have learned a ton.

I have a Jandy Stealth JEP1.5 pump (serial # after C11JH0332) with an AO Smith M48AA81D58 full rated motor (1.5 HP x 1.47 SF = 2.21 THP). The motor has gone bad. This is a secondary pump for the spa jets not the main circulation pump. It was plumbed with a 3" union and 2.5" plumbing which limits full pump replacement options without re-plumbing (which is a slippery slope because there isn't much room to cut fittings off and still have enough pipe left which means I have to cut even further back replacing multiple fittings).

Two questions:

1. This variable speed motor has been discontinued. Is there a replacement?

2. A variable speed motor feels like overkill for running spa jets. In my existing configuration it only ever runs at 3450 RPM. Can I just throw a single speed or 2 speed motor on with a new seal kit?

Thx

Yes, you can use the variable speed motor model ECM27SQU that you can view by clicking here, and replace the seals as well. The seals would be key numbers 4A, 5, and 14 on this parts diagram that you can look closer at by clicking here. You can use a single-speed motor however you would need to also change the impeller. I would recommend keeping the same total horsepower to be sure you are matching how the system was specked out.
