I don't know the best way to proceed

Hello all,

I went out to check my pool last night to let out some water as we had a crazy rainstorm, when I shut the pump off to move my sand filter to backwash the pump would not turn back on.  When I try to turn on "hi" or Low" speed, I just hear a humming noise and the pump usually does not turn on.  Occasionally I can get the pump to turn over by knocking the side of it when low speed is on.  I did not see my model of pump on your site and looking at other resources it is hard to find a 2hp, two speed, 115v motor.  The closest that I have seen is a AO Smith BN50V1, but this is only a 1.5hp motor.  I can buy my entire pump assembly from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Pentair-DYNII-N2-2-Dynamo-Aboveground-without/dp/B008H1RIPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529977139&sr=8-1&keywords=pentair+340221 but I would like to avoid spending so much if it is not necessary.  At the recommendation of a pool parts associate at my local store, I have already replaced my capacitor.  Tomorrow morning I will try to clean out the impeller to see if there is any debris, but I am wondering if I should try to change the bearings, or just buy a new motor or a whole new pump.

Other information from the lable:

Pump Model Number DYNII-N2-2

Part No. 340221

Motor # 177803

HP 2.0/.25SPL

115v; 60Hz 1PH KW

3450/1725 RPM S.F.1.0

Max Amps 16.4/4.4

Thank you in advance for any advice and if you need any further information, please let me know.

Thank you for contacting Inyo. If your motor shaft can spin freely, the bearings are not the problem. The windings might be bad. If that's the case, I would recommend replacing the motor or complete pump.

Your motor is actually a 1.5HP. This was confirmed by the manufacturer by cross-referencing motor model 177803. That is why you were having a hard time finding a 2HP 115v 2-speed motor. They do not exist.

You have a couple options. You could replace the motor with part number BN50V1 or replace the complete pump with model 340206.
