How to filtrate a pool on tropical conditions

Hi Guys,

i'm constructing my pool in Panama, Central America. 20000 gallons, 2 skimmers, 6 jets about 50m2.

I will use an UV lamp system with an additional salt sanitizer.

About 15 m2 on the poolside have only 20 inches of water. The rest 30x14 between 4 to 5 feet. I see many opinions on how long for the total filtration 6 hours, 8 hours... how many hours per day...

Why filtrate the pool 12 hours per day? If total filtration needs 6 hours, twice during the period, and stop???

Since the KWh is high (25cents) is it possible to filtrate the water twice a day, but in 12 hours each time, by using a lower speed pump?? I would use far less energy, and the water would still be filtrated twice a day, on a 24/7 pump running system??

Please guys, I never had a pool before, and I don't understand how all this works....

Why hurry to filtrate, and then stop??

Thanks in advance.

Hello Pascal - The most energy efficient way to circulate the pool water is by running a variable speed pump longer hours at a lower speed. For more detailed information. Check out our guide titled "How to Save Money Using a Variable Speed Pump".

If you are in the market for a variable speed pump, we recommend the PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pumps. They are very economical and long lasting.

Hi Rob,

ths for your advice. I think I will follow it.

now, which pump?? The Big names, Pentair, Hayward? Or your recommendation?? The cost are really similar. I saw the Pentair and Hayward for around $850/900

Your Prime can be control with a smart phone... don't need it.

For me, out here, the keys words are Reliability/Efficiency...!!

We would recommend the Prime over the Hayward or Pentair. It's less expensive and it's just as durable. The Prime VS Pump is available with and without the smart phone control.
