Hi!  I live in SW FL. I have a 10k gallon inground pool/spa with spillover.  I need to replace my heater.  Currently use propane.  But am wondering if I convert to a heat pump,  will it heat my spa up on demand like the propane heater does?

Unfortunately no, heat pumps do not heat bodies of water as quickly as a gas heater will. However, going with an oversized BTU heat pump does help with speeding up the time it will take to heat up a smaller body of water like a spa. In order to calculate the amount of time it will take to reach the desired temperature it will depend on the manufacturer, BTU size unit, gallons of water, water temperature, region and time of the year. Each heat pump manufacturer has heating charts on their web sites that will allow you to get a more specific gauge for heating timelines.
