Hi I have a tristar pump and it's making a worling sound . It appears to be coming from the rear of the motor. Any thoughts?

Generally, unusual (high-pitched or grinding-type( sounds from the motor are signs that the bearing(s) may be going bad.  You may want to think about a replacement motor in the near future.  Send pictures of your pump and motor and any labels if you would like help or check out our guide on How To Choose The Right Replacement Pool Pump Motor if the motor is going bad.

Hi it's not a high pitch or grinding sound. I could share a short video to a email of the sound that it appears.

You may be able to link to something here though I'm not 100% certain of it.  I forgot to give you this link to our guide on How To Troubleshoot a Noisy Pool Pump Motor.

If your motor is older, it could also be rust between the motor windings and armature causing noise.  If you feel lucky (I rarely do, so do this at your own risk!) you can grab a regular hammer and forcefully tap the top of the motor casing a few times. Sometimes jarring the pump motor a few times will knock off surface rust. This does not always work, but it may be worth a shot.
