Hi Jerry,
You would require the ECM16CU 1.65 HP Variable Speed Replacement Motor you may want to consider replacing your 1 HP impeller with a 1.5 HP Super Pump Impeller so you can take advantage of the Higher Speeds of the variable speed motor. We also suggest getting a Super Pump Tune Up Kit when you replace your motor. One last option would be to replace the entire pump with the PureLine Prime 1.65 HP Variable Speed Pump this pump uses a very similar housing as the Super Pump and also uses the exact same AO Smith Variable speed motor, the price on the PureLine Prime Variable Speed is $599. The installation of a brand new pump is a little easier than replacing the motor and if you replace the motor, tune up kit and impeller then the price is getting pretty close to the same price as a complete pump. Either route you go, I think you will be very happy with the variable speed.
