My Hayward DE filter keeps acting like it is clogged... About every 45 minutes to an hour... I bump it and flush it and it's ok again for 45 min to an hour... I know nothing about pools... We bought the house a year ago and the "aged" pool was part of the deal... It was causing problems last year too, but we muddled through it... I don't want to go through it again this year... Do I need a new filter? Is there a simple fix?

Replace the DE with new DE and clean the filter fingers by taking the top off and hosing off. Then recharge new DE powder by adding thru the skimmer. If you already did this, i had a similar issue last year and it ended up being the granular chlorine I was using. It was granular with stabilizer added. Turns out this chrorine was extremely tough to dissolve so when I was adding through the skimmer, it was clogging the filter up. I switched to a regular non-stabilized powder and the issue went away.
