I have an in-ground, vinyl sided pool that just gets filthy dirty. Manual vacuuming just isnt cutting it, my pump and filter get overwhelmed with dirt and its a huge pain to open the filter, clean out the core and get it ready for the next round, so I'm wondering if there is a powered device I can use to vacuum the dirt without running it through my system. Maybe something like what pool cleaners use?

What kind of filter are you using? Sometimes these kinds of problems will happen if there is any problem occurred at the time of installation. So you better contact a pool installation company and have a thorough check.

What kind of filter do you have? Is it a cartridge, DE, or sand filter?

You could vaccuum to waste instead of filter, but you will lose water with that. Have you looked into automatic pool vaccuums? I have a Polaris and it works great.
