Below is a complete list of pool equipment we would suggest for your 18' x 36'. What I listed below is for a concrete / gunite pool, if you are building a vinyl or fiberglass pool let me know as a few of the items will be different. From you post I'm assuming this is a pool only but if you have a pool and spa then let me know as some of the items will change.
