I have minimal knowledge of the pool building process, but I am considering going the DIY route if I have a company that can guide me through it. Does anyone recommend doing this to save some money or should I just go with a builder?

We've had employees at Inyo do both. Building it yourself will save a lot of money. However, the downside seems to be headaches afterward. The employee who did it himself has had numerous issues that include cracks in the shell as well as the deck sinking. Any money that he originally saved has been spent on these various repairs. At least with a reputable builder, there is a warranty.
This is a small sample but most of us here would recommend a builder.
