Hi! I have a 22'x52" (10,400 gal) above ground pool that we didn't get closed properly/emptied at the end of last season. To add insult to injury, our cover fell in over the winter. Now I have around 3" of water with what looks like brown algae. It's mostly floating and not sticking to the liner besides where it's dry above the water line. I've purchased a new sand filter and salt water clorinator for the pool to open it this year. Would it be worth manually emptying (at this point 5 gal at a time with a wet/dry vac) the rest of the water? Or should I just refill it and treat the water once the pump is up and running with chemicals and a vacuum?
If refilling it is the way to go, how should I attempt to open it with the new clorinator and a dirty pool?
