I would like to replace my current outdated Hayward 1 hp pump.

My pool stats:

approximately 21,000
1.5 inch piping
35 ft of head
Pentair 145241 sand filter
Pentair Rainbow 320 in-line chrolinator

I am interested in a dual speed pump, mostly the PL2607.

Thanks.

You probably won't even need to run the pump at 85% unless you are backwashing or vacuuming. I would run it at a lower speed for the majority of the time.

How would I handle this?

Would I only run the pump at 85%?

In return I think this should reduce the stress and increase the life of the unit.

Reducing the ports from 2" to 1.5" will impact the performance of the PL2605.

Will reducing the 2 inch to 1.5 inch have any affect on the pump?

Hello HardlyCrankin - The PL2607 would be a good option for your pool. However, I would recommend the Pureline Prime model PL2605. This is a 1.65 total HP variable speed pump. It is more durable than the PL2607 and more energy efficient.
